Facing Fears
Fabric (dye and cotton)
This fabric was inspired by illustrations in my portfolio. One in particular resonated with so many who saw it that I used it to create my own custom fabric. I designed and sewed a traditional suit out of that fabric as a way to represent the expectations of cultural norms and how they contain and confine the conflicting emotions inside of us. My hope is to challenge people to look beyond what they see on the outside and at the same time not to be afraid to show who they really are on the inside. It’s truly crazy that as our world gets bigger, our humanity seems to be shrinking. I’d like to inspire community connection and advocate for breaking down facades created by unrealistic social dogmas.
