Rebirth of the Thrift

Thrift stores have enjoyed a bit of a resurgence in the last several years. Thrifting is a hobby, not just a necessity, for some people. It’s cool, trendy, and Instagrammable. Thrift stores are a vital resource for affordable goods, a place to donate items no longer needed so they may have a new purpose, and a social hub that draws all strata from the community within the same boxed walls of the building. At any moment, socialites, influencers, soccer moms, and the unhoused can be standing in the same aisle or perusing the same row of tchotchkes. If you take those same people out of the thrift store and ask them to do the same in society, they will not likely line up as willingly.
